Kate Priestnall, LLB (Hons)

Special Educational Needs and Student Mental Health Specialist

Specialist Advisor

With over 30 years of senior leadership experience in education, Kate brings unmatched expertise in youth mental health, learning differences, and family support to the UCurricula community. A seasoned policymaker and national consultant, Kate works alongside our coaching team to support families navigating complex educational, emotional, or behavioral needs during the college admissions journey.

Kate specializes in helping families understand how to plan for accommodations or support—now and at the college level—for students facing challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, or depression. She also advises parents and teens on managing stress, exam pressure, sleep and nutrition, and the social-emotional challenges that often arise during the high-stakes college admissions process.

Kate holds a B.A. in Law from De Montfort University, a Master’s in Trauma and Attachment from Birmingham Newman University, and a counseling diploma from the University of Leicester. She also completed research in International Child Law and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the University of Law Birmingham, and is certified by the UK’s National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) to train educators in best practices around child protection and mental health.

With warmth, clarity, and deep professional wisdom, Kate helps ensure that every UCurricula student is seen, supported, and set up to thrive.
